Bayshore to South Beach
Escaping the valley heat. Strong headwind made it a tough but refreshing ride.
Escaping the valley heat. Strong headwind made it a tough but refreshing ride.
Annual Fourth of July climb up Mary’s Peak. I did the road ride and parked on 34 at the bottom of the hill.
I did good. Very slow but never struggled. Perfect day. Just cool enough on the climb and warm enough on the downhill. Hot in town though.
Nice warm day. Big turnout.
Went down to meet LT1 riders as they were coming in.
Another good turnout. Warm day, almost hot. Wild headwinds the last few miles.
Made it to Hiatt just as a very large group was leaving. Stayed long enough for other club members to show up.
Did Decker solo but ran into Bruce H and rode back to town with him.
I’ve been trying to get more climbing in to prepare for Loop Tour and to figure out which bike to take. Last week I did Lewisburg Saddle on the Saga and it was very slow and hard. Yesterday I did it on the Ravn and it was much better. I still have to do it on the Grando, and then the Saga again to know for sure.
Back Soap Creek - Tampico - Wiles - Military - Robison - 99 - Coffin Butte - Old Adair base - Adair - Ryals - Independence - Pettibone - Lewisburg - Highland
Cool and misty.
With a smaller Tuesday group to Imagine, then with John and Lloyd to Philomath, then solo on a longer loop. Sunny and almost hot.
From Schwarz campground. Cooler today.
To Wildwood Falls. Warm and sunny.
Camping at Schwartz campground in the Rialta.
Over Lewisburg Saddle and Berry Creek. Back De Armond and Wiles.
First day of summer didn’t disappoint. Sunny and warm.
New ride. Good turn out. Cool day with a few showers, and a lot wind.
Still cool but nice. Got out early to meet the even earlier group at Hiatt. No one wanted to do Decker with me.
Picked up my new hearing aids, had lunch, rode around a bit.
Cooler day. Good turnout. Feeling tired.
CSGC Day 4
Did the rocky road 3 miles past the lemonade stand. Nelson went on around the horn exploring.
CSGC Day 3
Solo ride. Lower Black Butte trails to Indian Ford and wonderful single track to Sisters. Had lunch, a shower, and rode back.
CSGC Day 2
First with Jean to Suttle Lake and back to Camp Sherman. Then met the main crew on Suttle tie trail and rode with them on some of the Black Butte trails.
CSGC Day 1
Exploring around Camp Sherman, plus over to Jean’s cabin.
Cool and very windy. Good time at Imagine
Cloudy day but just warm enough. Very fast pace at the start. I did well but then ran out of steam at the end.
Beautiful day. Lovely rail trail.
Nice and warm. Medford to Talent and back plus a bit of meandering.
After two warm sunny days today was cool and rainy.
Slow meander enjoying the sunshine and making a few stops.
Cool and cloudy. Time for a ride before seeing the kids school play tonight.
Nice ride. Cool then misty, then rain.
Super slow on the Wyeth climb. The trail now goes 1.5 miles past Viento but still short of Mitchell point.
Got to Eagle Creek about 12:30. Didn’t ride until almost 2. Cool and windy but sunny and warm.
Did the gravel loop with Nelson and a couple of others. Nice. Lots of new gravel on Peterson. Grando did great
Another warm day. Needed to get the Ravn out.
Warm evening, good turnout.
Beautiful day. Good turnout. Great ride.
Spring Overnight day 2
Another beautiful day. Got home by noon.
MVBC Spring Overnight day 1
We went to Brownsville because Willamette Mission doesn’t open for bike camping until May 15.
Super nice day. Got a little hot towards the end.
The sun came out!
It wasn't supposed to rain, but it did. Fun to be back with the group.
Rain kept the ride short but the sun peeked out on the way home.
Another great meander through town on a tour of significant trees. A good time was had by all.
Out to see Elvis' birthplace, then through town to Core Bicycle shop to have them box and ship my bike home.
Day 28 - NTP Day 6
Today was a tough one. I got a cold. Stuffy head, dry cough. So I drank a lot of liquids yesterday and then was up all night peeing. Still managed to get out earlier than I wanted to as it was a bit cool. Right away I was struggling. The historic sites and points of interest were more frequent on this section and I had to stop and rest at each one. Eventually I seemed to recover and was able to get to town at a reasonable pace. All I could think about was getting to a motel and lying down.
The country changed a lot today. The forest got thinner and thinner and eventually the road dropped down to open farm land and a river.
Tupelo is a mess. Heavy traffic, no bicycle lanes or sidewalks. I'll probably;y take 2 rest days, do laundry, and go see where Elvis was born.
