Town Garden
Rain then no rain.
Rain then no rain.
Clear, crisp, and sunny!
Good to be riding with the Tenners after missing the last 4 Saturdays. Cold and gray but no rain. Lunch at the Ovenbird.
On the return I was by myself and decided to ride some gravel on Haley and Parker roads. Nice.
Rain held off until almost home. Stiff south wind on the return ride.
Not raining. Windy this morning but it let up by the time I got out. Loop around Philomath. Out Grange Hall, back 34.
Damp and gray, but no rain. Supposed to start tomorrow.
Fog was lifting in the valley so we rode right up through it.
Started out with full rain gear, but it stopped raining. On and off and on again with the rain gear as it started drizzling. Little Wuesten for lunch. Then no rain all the way until just as I started up Maxine.
Sunny and cool. Gorgeous day but a little smoky.
Gorgeous day. Waited for it to warm up before heading out. It eventually got up to 62. Headed out Eagle Mill, Butler Creek, Valley View and up into the orchards. Back on the bike path.
It got cold.
First ride on the new Hans Dampf tires. They certainly gave me more confidence on the gravel and trails.
It was drizzling rain all morning but it stopped and the sun even peeked through. Nice and warm as well in the low 60's
I decided to try going up the last part of Horse Trail. I just don't have the power anymore to roll over obstacles or up around the switchbacks. I walked a lot.
Went down Oak Creek and then into town.
Test ride with the Cambium saddle. Through campus and Avery Park enjoying the fall colors. I think I’ll like this saddle better than the Selle Anatomica on this bike.
Rain held off. Sun even peeked through a bit. Good turnout.
Getting cooler and wetter now. 3 Coffeeneuring rides so far.
Day 3 - Coast Range Gravel Adventure
It was foggy on the coast when we left. Stopped at the Blue Whale for second breakfast and then headed out Yachats River Road. In a couple of miles the sun was shining and it was warming up. We were taking turns driving and Eileen drove the first leg. Rick then took over and drove up to the end of the Valley. Then I drove over the hill. I have ridden this and I wanted to give the others the experience of the big climb and great descent into Five Rivers Valley. From here Peter took over the driving and took some amazing pictures of the fall foliage in the Five Rivers Valley.
Then came the adventure. Road 3412. Unkown territory. Turned out to be in great shape for riding, but steep for 3.5 miles. And then we were treated to an amazing descent on smooth pavement. Very unexpected. This was probably the highlight of the trip.
We got to Salmonberry CG and it was closed even though the camp host had told me it would be open just the week before. Oh well. We loaded up the van and heased to Nectar Creek in Philomath for a celebration and then home.
Day 2 - Coast Range Gravel Adventure
Woke up to a light mist but happily the tents were not wet. Plenty of time for breakfast and pictures before setting off on Hilltop Road. Soon it was clear and sunny and it would be a warm day. Hilltop is a long hard climb, but never brutal. I did not have to walk any of it. The downhill is on gravel which was never loose altough threre was once section that was a little chunky. The ride down North Beaver Creek was long and tiring. Once it was following the creek it was no longer all downhill, but the typical ups and downs when following a river or creek.
It was foggy at the coast and a lot cooler. Eric's wife was there to take Eric, Sean and Karen back to Corvallis. So now it was just 4 of us. We headed to Seal Rock and found a coffee shop. After that I drove ahead to Beachside SP and was able to get spot 32 which has more room for tents. The riders showed up soon after. Rick got some firewood and we had a pleasant evening.
Day 1 Coast Rand Gravel Adventure 2018
8 riders set off from Osborn on a glorious October morning to follow the C2C route through the Coast Range on a glorious October morning. Peter's wife Karen offered to drive my van, so we had SAG support. We picked up Rick in Philomath and headed out highway 20 to Woods Creek road. It was a bright sunny say and it would get nice and warm. Of course this late in the season the sun is low and a lot of places in the woods are in the shade.
Everyone really emjoyed the C2C trail section. It's just a really fun ride. We got to Big Elk Campground and Tracy, Betty, and John hopped in Tracy's truck and headed home, leaving 7 of us to camp and ride the next day.
Another glorious fall day.
Fantastic fall weather
Gorgeous day. Warm and sunny. First into town to get some tubes. Then Riverside to Albany. Little Wuesten for coffee, then on to Jefferson. Turned off Talbot and got on Wintel which goes right through the refuge. Then BV ferry, Springhill to Scenic to Oak Grove. Home via Crescent Valley.
Up Jackson Creek, Down Oak Creek, through Bald Hill Park, and around town. Plus some miles from a previous trip to town.
Took the Saga on a tenners ride because Grando lacks a rear fender. Did okay
So far so good.
Missed the 9:00 group. It was cold, I was tired, and I really didn't want to have to try and keep up. Left about 11 after it was warming up nicely. Gorgeous day. Upper 60's, little wind, mostly sunny. I meanderd south on the way back. Linn West - Oak Plain - Potter - Peckenpaugh - Greenback - Kendal Loop - then back on the normal route.
Out Crescent Valley and up Fraser Creek which loops back to Lewisburg Rd after a nice climb. Across to Pettibone and up Avalon, very steep. Arboretum and up Hoodview and Overlook to Mountain View. Then another loop north on the mostly flats.
Some early rain but pretty nice overall.
Broke my fender.
Same day. After my fender broke I went home and removed it, then had lunch and went back out.
Another gorgeous fall day.
Warmer morning but it had rained. Rained again at the top of Decker.
Round and round and round we go.
Top of Woods Creek to Harlan road and back.
Gorgeous cool clear morning.
Cool almost cold morning. Good turnout.
First rains of summer on 9/11 and 9/12
Out 99 to Adair to meet Tuesday group but no one was there. Took Tampico to Willes, Robison, Rifle Range. Then Soap Creek and back over the top
Cool morning with a few sprinkles.
vi Bellfountain and Hiatt farm. Nice day. Rained overnight.
Riding to school with J now.
Cool morning. Sunny. Nice tailwind heading south.
