Day 1 - 50 miles
Left on a Friday. Will spend one or two nights. Nice day, warm but with some clouds.
Got to the dam by 4:00. Took another hour to get past the lake and up the river a little. Nice camp spot above the river. I can here it roaring, but not too loud.
I went down to the river to rinse off and try out my new towel. It was that warm. As soon as I got naked along came two kiyakers. I had no idea they could run this part of the river. It certainly is moving fast.
I setup the hammok with the orange tarp over it since I knew it would rain. I felt quite smug lying in the hammok out of the rain. I had my bike under it too. Then I realized I had left the rain fly open on the tent. It got wet inside but not too bad. My sleeping bag almost got wet. I was able to use my towel to dry the tent floor.
Looking out at the rain from my hammok.
After dinner I started a fire and dried out the towel. I'm in my sleeping bag now trying out Linda's silk liner. I wondering if I'm going to be too hot. Far cry from last time.
Trying out some new technology on this trip. Using "Track My Tour" to save waypoints and send Tweets. Using BlogPress to write this and post it to my websit once I'm back in range. Also trying out my solar charger too see if it can keep my iPhone charged.
My Solio solar charger.
