I leave Sunday for a two week tour. My plan is to go door-to-door from my house in Corvallis, ride north to Vernonia, and then west to Astoria. From there down the coast as far as Florence before heading off on back roads through the Siuslaw National Forest through the Coast Range to Alsea, and back to Corvallis.
I plan on camping most of time except for staying with friends about half way around. Possible deviations from this route would be to cut inland from Yachats and spend more time on backwoods forest roads. I'm also really looking forward to the section of the Coast Bike Route that leaves 101 and goes along the coast from Tillamook to Pacific City.
I'm calling this Stage 1 as it is only half of the coast. Hopefully I will do Stage 2 next year.
