This was a restoration project. The guitar was made in the 1930's when Hawaiian music was very popular and everyone wanted to learn to play a lap steel. It spent some time in Texas where it got very dry and developed some severe cracks. Some of the cracks had been previously glued but not cleated, and so they opened up again. I glued and cleated all the cracks, as well as the braces. It should be stable now and it looks much better.
It plays nice but of course doesn't have the sound of a resonator lap steel. It's good when you want to practice without being too loud. My intention is to sell this but I will keep it for a while to make sure it is stable.
